The BCP building is one of the most prominent features in the Lima skyline and can be seen from almost anywhere in the city. Lighting designers Claudia Paz and Nicholas Cheung, with help from Philips Color Kinetics, have reinvented the building’s exterior façade with a large interactive public art installation called ‘BCP Affinity’,

This new canvas, made from 26,000 connected LED bulbs, engages city dwellers and provides a softer public facing image to one of Peru’s biggest corporations.

To enable interactivity with the façade, Paz and Cheung created a podium of LED panels that mimics the façade on a smaller scale. Passersby can paint and play with the canvas of LED lights to create various effects such as constellations, rain and fireworks, accompanied by the atmospheric sounds of orchestra instruments for the whole city to watch and hear.
