Bruce Munro: Tropical Light is a celebration of the Top End’s Tropical Summer and features eight illuminated sculptures by the world-renowned artist spread across Darwin’s CBD.
The collection of illuminated sculptures is connected by a self-guided path featuring works from six local Darwin artists, creating a 2.5km trail of art experiences.
Each piece is intended to inspire interest during the day and hold special significance when illuminated at night from 7:00pm – 10:30pm.
Mr Munro’s work is inspired by his personal history of visiting the Northern Territory, it’s natural light and landscape.
“It’s great that Tropical Light is opening and I want to extend a huge thank you to all the people involved in this exhibition for the launch and the next six months to come,” Mr Munro said.
“It has been an amazing journey and it’s a privilege to be given the opportunity to create a world-first, city-wide exhibition for Darwin. This city has changed a great deal since my first visit on a camping trip in 1992.
“I hope Tropical Light attracts people from the Territory, Australia-wide and internationally to Darwin, which is an amazing city to be discovered.”
Bruce Munro: Tropical Light is free and open until 30 April 2020.
