‘Reflexio’ light installation by Rūta Palionytė and Grete Veskiväli

In 2019 the light installation “Reflexio” was installed as a part of permanent exhibition “Explore Space!” at Estonian Museum of Architecture. “Explore Space!” deals with the various facets of creating architecture, from the idea and the materials to the creation of the actual spatial experience.

“Reflexio” is placed in the arched cellar of the XIX century Rotermann Salt Storage. The brick vaults of the storage still retain some salt, which makes the vaults very rich in textures–a beautiful feature to reveal by light. During changing lighting scenarios the color of light various between warm and cool white tones, which emphasize the texture of the bricks and the cold “crispy” salt crystals, that reflect upon the large mirrored floor.
