‘STALACTITE’ – light art installation by Christopher Bauder and Boris Divider

STALACTITE is a monumental installation created by light artist Christopher Bauder and musician Boris Divider for the BRIGHT BRUSSELS light festival 2018. The immersive network-like art light installation is composed of 360 RGB LED rods arranged in a complex space frame structure

The system constructs an inverted pyramid shape. The layers of light rods create pulsating light animations generating complex three-dimensional shapes and light patterns. The light animations are directly synchronized with an electronic music score. The structure floats above the public. It invites the spectators to enter the meditative audio-visual world. The spectators gather beneath STALACTITE, and in so doing become part of the installation. The audio-visual journey that STALACTITE takes people on, is sequential, minimalist and progressive, running on a continuous loop so they can enter or exit at any time.
