Studio N
Introducing Alexander Holler

Studio N is a new architectural lighting design studio in the UAE that provides creative, simple lighting design solutions on projects with limited budgets in the region. It launched earlier this year and has seen rapid growth with clients requesting services that will enhance the design of their projects, from façade lighting to private villas, a restaurant refurbishment and a hotel project in Oman.

The team has recently expanded with the appointment of Managing Director, Alexander Holler. With a background in sales and business development and a strong foundation in premium lighting solutions, Alexander has the ability to grow Studio N into a leading lighting design consultancy service, delivering great quality projects for designers looking for good value.

Alexander explains what the future holds for Studio N and what the new business model brings to the market.

What is your vision for the business?

I want to continue to develop Studio N as the go-to partner when it comes to a flexible, efficient lighting design consultancy service. I believe that the lack of budgets for lighting design often leads to a negative effect on the whole project. I don’t think that free design services, nor the supply of cheap alternatives are helpful. I’m a true believer in quality work in all aspects.

My focus is on building strong relationships with our clients, so we can continuously elevate their spaces through simple and creative lighting solutions.

What does the Studio N business model bring to the region?

Dubai provides a unique platform for a lot of small-to-medium-sized design and architectural companies to start up and flourish. We realised that a lot of these companies simply cannot afford lighting design fees, even if they appreciate the service. We came up with an agile business model that allows us to be competitive and still provide a creative, quality-driven solution.

Thanks to its flexibility, Studio N can come on board a project at any stage and blend in with the vision of the designer.

Predictions for the next 12 months?

Over the years, the Middle East has always been a fast-past environment where businesses have to adapt quickly and efficiently to keep their fingers on the pulse and compete in an international melting pot of different cultures and minds. I think over the next 12 months we wilI see further improvements in smart lighting control systems, which are able to learn a kind of ‘lighting consciousness’ by constantly adding new capabilities and automatically adapting to its users.
